Principal’s Message

Back in 2018, when our school values were developed, I don’t think we could ever have envisaged a global challenge like the one we are currently experiencing that would test their full extent. Demonstrating our values of Care, Respect, Creativity and Community are incredibly relevant for us all at this time.

School closure and social distancing are our best chance to slow the spread of COVID-19 in New Zealand. While physical attendance at school has ended this week, we are very pleased to have now created a digital teaching and learning space for our students. As part of our culture of care, we want to ensure your child’s high quality education, support and connection with staff and other students can continue as quickly as possible. Our teachers have been outstanding, working extremely hard to get everything ready within a very tight timeframe. We are very proud of how well they have managed this process and we look forward to seeing our students soon in their digital classrooms.

During school closure, I ask that you support your child to continue their learning by encouraging them to set a schedule that will work for both themselves and for your family circumstances.  It is important your son or daughter takes responsibility for their learning and leverages the opportunity to build valuable organisational and self-management skills.

The College is now closed. Under the conditions of Level 4 of the Governments Covid-19 response, our school grounds are off limits until further notice. We ask students and members of our community to please respect this.

Should you need to contact staff during the term time closure, please see a full list of staff email addresses on our website Contact Us page, here. Our Guidance team will also be available to students.

Please heed government advice. Stay at home, practice social distancing and connect with others online rather than in person, stay safe and be kind.

Jhon Smith,

Principal
